Clear Quartz features a trigonal crystal matrix. It is usually shine-through, 6-sided prisms with piramid-shaped tips. Clear Quartz is always colorless. Colored versions of quartz, such as the purple Amethyst and yellow Citrine owe their colors to the occurence of imperfections in the quartz crystals. Clear Quartz does not contain imperfections and is therefor the clearest of the quartz family known to men. These stunning crystals are being found at many spots in the Alps, mainly in France and Switserland. Like it's cousins, Clear Quartz is a hard mineral which can be used for many different applications.
Over 12% of the Earth's crust consists of quartz, and most of it is the clear, see-through Clear Quartz.
